Kevin Poston, Law’s agent, confirmed the news Friday in an e-mail to The Associated Press . The agreement came after Denver’s media availability and a Broncos spokesman said the team had no comment.
Law is expected to sign the deal Saturday, pending the passing of his physical. He may even make it out to practice as the Broncos (6-1) prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.
The 35-year-old Law, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, will fit right in with Denver veteran defensive backs Champ Bailey , Andre’ Goodman , Brian Dawkins and Renaldo Hill , all in their 30s.Law becomes the latest former New England player to reunite with Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, who spent his previous eight seasons as an assistant with the Patriots.
A first-round pick by New England in 1995, Law helped the Patriots to three Super Bowl titles. He played for the New York Jets last season.The Broncos have been relatively quiet on the free-agent front so far during the season, making just their second move.
Last week, Denver signed 16-year veteran punter Mitch Berger to replace Brett Kern . Berger got off to a rusty start, averaging 38.4 yards on eight punts in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens last weekend.With Bailey and Goodman turning in solid seasons on the corners, Law might be utilized more in nickel packages. The Broncos are currently using Jack Williams and rookie Alphonso Smith in that role.
Law played 10 seasons with New England before signing with the Jets in 2005, where he had a career-high 10 interceptions. After being released by the Jets, Law followed Herm Edwards to Kansas City, starting every game for the Chiefs in 2006 and ‘07.
While the move may have been the right one, it was not a popular one in the city of Indianapolis as the fans let everyone know they wanted to be known as the greatest team in history. The fans there and around the country were hoping to the Colts would attempt to go undefeated through the regular season and hopefully the playoffs, but all of that came to a screeching holt win the Colts fell to the Jets 29-15 after Caldwell pulled most of the starters out in the 3rd Quarter leading 15-10.

College Football After further discussion Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer decided not to retire after all once the season is over. Earlier Meyer announced he would be retiring after the Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati due to health problems. But after a great practice with his Gators Meyer decided he would take a leave of absence and hope for a return before the start of the 2010 season.

NBA Looks like the injury prone Tracy McGrady could be on the trading block. After returning to the Houston Rockets lineup after multiple injuries, McGrady was told by head coach Rick Adelman that his playing time will not increase anytime soon. McGrady has only been averaging 6-7 minutes a game since his return, not something you would expect from a player with a $23 million salary.

September 24th, 2008Week 4 brings us an interesting NFC match-up pitting 2 teams against each other that are currently sitting a-top their respective divisions, both at 2-1 SU.
While Green Bay started the season out 2-0, they had no answer for Dallas’ relentless ground attack in Week 3 and with Tampa Bay squeezing out a big OT win on the road in Chicago, a definite shift in momentum appears to be occurring and the various situations at play in this game would appear to bear this projection out.
The Buc’s are one of my plays of the week and here are the main reasons why:
Reason #1The Packers fall into a number of negative situations this week, the most significant of which, involves Favs (or Dogs of higher Offensive Holding Penalty Against average (OHPA) than their current opponent.
Season-to-date, the Packers have a dismal OHPA of 3.33 while Tampa has a more reasonable average of 2.33 Offensive Holding Penalties Against per-game.
When a handful of secondary conditions are also added to the mix (excluding play-against teams that have had to deal with a Strength-of-Schedule > 0.600 is one example), this situation has been almost automatic since 2001, with a brutal record of 85-191 ATS.
Reason #2Another negative situation hurting the Packers this week involves teams that would appear to be a good wager based on how their Pass Defense Rating matches up with their opponents Pass Offense Rating.
Green Bay’s Pass Defense Rating of +1.28 would appear to match up well with Tampa’s anaemic Pass Offense Rating of -0.44, but, when an ‘advantage’ of at least +1 occurs, as in this case, AND the team in question also had an above average Pass Offense Rating (POF) last season, (with Favre at the helm, the Packers were +0.28 in this category in ‘07) we start to see the makings of a situation that has caused grief for the team involved, versus the line, all the way back to 1994.
Now, there are other conditions that need to be met as well, most importantly, that the opponent of the team with the ‘Pass Offense Advantage’ also happens to have an above average Rush Offense Rating (the Buc’s are currently at +1.11 in this regard) and this game does not happen to be on Monday Night.
Add everything up, and you are looking at a killer situation that is 53-138 ATS since 1994 and 8-28 ATS in the past 2 years alone.
Reason #3In addition to the bad news surrounding the Packers and their statistical make-up this week, the Buc’s are in a powerful situation that is 135-52 ATS since 1994 which looks at ‘undervalued’ teams that have seen a big improvement in their Rushing Offense from the previous year.
The logic is fairly simple and it entails playing on teams with a Rush Offense Rating (ROF) that is at least 0.5 pts higher than last season and is also a minimum of 0.5 pts higher than their current opponents ROF.
As mentioned above, Tampa Bay’s ROF is currently +1.11–a vast improvement from their mark of +0.24 last season.
In addition, Green Bay’s current ROF of only -0.13 suffices the 2nd primary condition for this trend as well.
The one other key ingredient in this situation is that the opponent of our much improved rushing team was a Playoff team in the previous season, which of course the Packers were, albeit with Brett Favre running the offense….

It’s that time of year, the NFL season is starting up, the NBA is underway, and the lead up to the MLB season is fast approaching. This means a lot of things to different people. Some people barrack for a certain team for enjoyment, but a lot watch the sports with the intention of winning money.

I’m just hoping that Frank Caliendo keeps doing imitations of him…the first time I heard it I was listening to him on a local sports radio station and had to pull over to the side of the road I was laughing so hard. He probably only retired because he finally thought Brett Favre was done, but he continues to make comebacks like nobody’s business. Which leads me to my Super Bowl predictions for 2009. I’m gonna go with Brett and the Vikings vs. the Patroits, with the Pats coming out on top.
